Our Mission
Forsyth Home Educators is a Christian homeschool support group serving Forsyth County, North Carolina, and the surrounding counties. Our mission is to connect homeschooling families with opportunities for growth and enrichment within our community. North Carolina defines homeschooling as a nonpublic school consisting of the children of not more than two families or households, where the parents or legal guardians or members of either household determine the scope and sequence of academic instruction, provide academic instruction and determine additional sources of academic instruction. There’s more to Homeschooling than books
We offer a variety of social activities, enrichment events, and service projects as well as connections with local co-ops which offer a wide range of middle and high school classes. Our Time-out group plans field trips and activities for elementary age children several times a year and our teen/tween group does monthly activities as well. We provide a graduation and prom for your high school students. Please see our newsletter or calendar for activities occurring this month.
Voting for the 2023-2024 FHE Board concluded on May 14. The new board will be seated on August 1, 2023, serving through July 31, 2024. We appreciate your willingness to serve, and congratulations to the following members: |

ABOUT THE FHE BOARD
“FHE purposes to help new and continuing home educators by:
A. helping and encouraging parents to fulfill their God-given rights and responsibilities to educate their own children;
B. providing direction to information on the legal aspects of home education (e.g., contact information for the North Carolina General Statutes, North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education, North Carolinians for Home Education, Home School Legal Defense Association);
C. providing information on curricula and other resource materials;
D. providing timely information about FHE events;
E. offering peer support, encouragement, and networking opportunities to families choosing home education for their children;
F. promoting growth and education for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit; and
G. promoting home education as an excellent educational alternative.“

Note: The FHE database is purged each summer removing members who have not had a membership in two years.
