Watson Piano Studio

Contact: Celeste Watson  Email/Phone Number: 816.456.7218   celestewatson08@gmail.com

Our goal is for each student to become an independent music maker. One day, they will no longer be in piano lessons, and we want them to be adults who enjoy singing a lullaby to their own children someday and adults who enjoy shearing and participating in music in their own life. In short – I want them to love making music themselves even when they’re not with me or working on a practicing assignment. In order for students to feel confident creating music, lessons include learning pieces on the piano, singing and movement games that strengthen piano skills, improvising and creating their own music, and aural skills and rhythm training. Students learn to understand the language of music using rhythm and tonal pattern instruction using the philosophy of Music Learning Theory. They develop habits of optimal alignment and good body use at the piano through the Lister-Sink Method of Injury-Preventative Piano Technique. Most importantly, they enjoy sharing what they know with their family and friends because they are using their creativity to make something beautiful and unique.

Matt is the author of “Creeds, Codes and Cowboy Commandments: TV’s B-Western Heroes Rules to Live By” along with two activity book series that can easily be used to supplement your homeschool’s history curriculum.  His first activity book series is a Wild West Discovery series with each activity book highlighting a B-Western hero and the cowboy code he encouraged young readers and viewers to abide by.  In addition to typical activity book activities, each book in this series also includes a geography activity of some sort.  His second series on World War 2 is a glimpse into how citizens in the United States learned about the war using only primary sources available to the average American – especially children and teens –  during that time.  Each book highlights part of the author’s family history during World War 2 and encourages the reader to learn about and take note of their own family’s experiences during the war.  Both series include a reprint of a comic story that relates to the theme of the activity book. Matt has also presented at nostalgia conventions and is available to do presentations for groups.
